What if we are not meant
to grow old? What if disease and senility is the outcome of an error in
our thinking? What if there is another alternative??
There are two ways
in which we develop. One is the change in circumstances without. A marriage,
a job resulting in an expansion in the sense of purpose and all that.
The other change is slow and subtle but one day you suddenly wake up to
realize that you are not your old self anymore.
Could this be happening with you too? After all I am just another tiny
reflection of the Greater Self out there, the collective self, growing
as more and more people become conscious and aware.
All the events of our life are exercises in the growth of awareness. We
have choices in front of us, those choices are nothing but paths leading
to awareness. Some are more radical than others and we settle for the
ones that lead to a comfortable degree of awareness. Not too much too
soon!
Thus at every moment, we can choose. It takes a long long time to still
the mind and remain unperturbed by the forces we come in contact with.
We learn to listen to the still small voice within us... that always speaks
in our best interest in the clamor of our usual inclination to follow
the path of least resistance and maximum pleasure. The answer lies in
the discovery of the ONE purpose towards which our soul yearns. It is
sought for its own sake and everything is turned toward its realisation.
It is important to find this purpose. We mostly receive clues here and
there and the clues reveal to us the mystery.
It is like observing a play that grows in complexity of plot. Every year
there is something more about that person or an idea that intrigues us.
Until we learn NOT to judge, not to jump to conclusions.
"Character comes
from following our highest sense of right, from trusting our ideals without
being sure they'll work. One challenge of our adventure here on Earth
is to rise above dead systems... and express the highest selves we know
how to be."
(One - Richard Bach)
The artist hammers away at the raw material and an onlooker would make
no sense. But the artist has Something in mind. Take heart! The art may
not be finished yet.
"... to be natural,
to be in harmony with the truth of things is the very secret of bliss." (Sri
Aurobindo)
